Podcast: Seven Habits of Lifelong Learners

Among libraries, lifelong learning is one of those core values we shelve our books by. So it makes sense that before we embark on this new online learning and discovery journey that we should take a few minutes to review a few habits that can assist in creating lifelong learners.
These habits, which we’ve called the Seven and 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners, will provide you with a refresher on what it means to be a lifelong learner.
Discovery Exercise:
- Make sure you have headphones or speakers attached to your computer.
- Open up the 7 & 1/2 Habits online tutorial and view the online tutorial.
- As you watch and listen, write down which habit among the 7 & 1/2 that is easiest for you and which is hardest. You will use your personal blog (which you will set up next) to post your thoughts about lifelong learning.
*Note: The tutorial asks that you submit your learning contract to PLCMC, as NSU Library staff you do not need to do this. You can however fill out the contract and keep it for your personal record.
Have fun! If you haven’t jumped on board yet, it’s never too late to become a lifelong learner.

When I went to click on the link for the learning contract it did not work.
You may have to click on the download file option if another window does not pop-up to open the wordfile.
I’m having the same problem. A new window does not pop-up to open the wordfile and I don’t see a download file option.
I am having the same problem as listed above. A new window doesn’t open and I don’t see a download file option.
I enjoyed the video on lifelong learning. I like the habit # 7 1/2.
Thanks to all who worked to implement this for us…What a great experience!
Hmm.. Beginning with the end in mind is easy for me, especially things that have many components– I can see how they all come together.
What’s hard: H2 and H4 : H2 – taking responsibility for learning– which is why I love this process–it keeps me on track.
H4 – having confidence in learning–old, dog, new tricks …biggest challenge is remembering all the log-ins and passwords I have

I enjoyed learning about lifelong learning. I thought the screen shots were too static and needed more action. The lifelong learning contract resembles a plan of action for any goal-not just learning.
I can use it for other goals.
I enjoy the PLAY component in learning however, the technology portion can overwhelm me.
I am ready to learn more.
I had the same problem with the download fuction so I just printed it out. Does this mean I have to turn in my homework?
I started a wee bit late but I must say I am loving the pace. To say it’s just my speed is an understatement.

I completed the 71/2 habits but the contract would not open. Instead of stopping I put the seven habits into affect. I viewed the problem as a challenge rather than a crisis( habit 3) and accepted the responsible for my learning by continuing with other exercises. I wrote my own contract Here!
Ann, try control-click (Ctrl-click) to open the contract and let us know if that works for you.
The control-click(Ctrl-Click) worked for me. Thanks.
Testing 7 1/2.
Had some difficulty finding the exercise but easy once it was found and easy to listen to. Good points.
I am just starting to take the 2.0 challenge today 1/31/08.
It was interesting to watch 7&1/2 habits and I totally agree that being a lifelong learner adds so much to your interest in llife and develops your mind.
